Il blog dell'autorevole Lew Rockwell, storico collaboratore di Ron Paul, ci dice la sua sul viaggio di Benedetto XVI negli Stati Uniti attraverso un dettaglio forse più importante di quel che sembra: il papa non ha partecipato alla cena indetta in suo onore alla Casa Bianca. Rockwell writes succinctly:

La vicenda della cena forse è sfuggita ai più, ma sicuramente non alle diplomazie che decifrano i particolari in vista di strategie impensabili.
Ma un coperto tolto dalla tavola all'ultimo minuto in fondo è poca cosa: come dimenticare Condoleeza Rice, che in Vaticano non ha potuto prendere nemmeno un tramezzino in piedi? Infatti, sul finire dell'estate scorsa, forse presa da un momentaneo e particolare slancio verso l'Iran, chiese insistentemente di essere ricevuta da Benedetto XVI, per parlargliene: si sentì rispondere "il papa è in ferie".
